Vroeger keerden we regelmatig terug.

ENG “My roots are in Palestine, the land my parents were forced to leave. I was born here, part of the first generation in my family to have the chance to study and build a life of their own. We used to return regularly, but that is no longer possible. Our last visit was in 2022. My uncle took us to Jerusalem and bought me a pendant at a small market, made from an old Palestinian coin. I wear it every day. It is both a source of strength and a reminder of pain: of the family I left behind, the uncertainty they face and the privileges I have that they do not. I long to return, to put down roots and build something for my country. But would America still welcome me back? As a Palestinian woman, my existence is resistance. I want to keep my heritage alive through art, literature and education, and turn the opportunities I have been given into something that reaches beyond myself.”
